Lesson Title: What is Gravity?(Zach says to class)
Specific Objective: Explain Newton’s law of gravity.(Zach says to class)
Vocabulary you will teach: Gravity(Zach says to class)
Anticipatory Set (Warm-Up):GET UP AND JUMP! (Katie says to class). Make two columns on a piece of paper one for what your already know an the other for what you learned...fill out the "what you already know" coulmn(Zach explains to class the instructions). Also do an example about gravity... Have students get with a partner as we count down from 5 and fall into each other. (Katie explains to class the instructions)
Step by Step Direct Instruction: -Anticipatory set (5 minutes)
-Power point(Slide 1=Katie and Zac say together, Slide 2=Zac, Slide 3=Katie, Slide 4=Zac, Slide 5=Katie, Slide 6= Zac, Slide 7=Katie and Zac say together) (5 minutes)
-Video (fill out other side of the peice of paper while watching this)(Katie pauses, fast fowards, ec.) (a little under 20 minutes)
-Experiment (10 minutes)
-Quiz (Home work)
Guided practice (getting students involved):http://www.chevroncars.com/learn/fun-games/science-experiment-gravity ( Get two students(Katie picks 1, Zach picks 1) to do this experiment, another student to crumple up the aluminom foil(Kaite chooses), two more students(Zach picks one Katie picks) to cut out two large squares in the aluminum foil Closure (Review and leave them with something to talk about): Take the Quiz(Zach explains to class the instructions)
Possible Extensions (extra credit): Make up an experiment that has to do with gravity(Katie)

what is gravity: ! nGravity is a very strong force of matter. Matter is an object that has volume and mass. But even though people may say that gravity is just the attraction of objects and the earth, gravity is actually an attraction that exists between all objects, anywhere and everywhere in the universe. Without gravity, the earth would fling us off within seconds!
Newtons law of gravity- nNewton’s law of gravity explains how bodies are made to attract one another. Newton’s law of gravity is actually quite complicated so here is an easier way of looking at it; the gravitational equation showsthat gravity’s force is equal to the product of two masses, and inversely (increase or decrease)equal to the squares of the distances between their centers of mass.
